About the Educational Group

The IEM Group has opened up the doors for young minds who dare to dream. It encourages the spirit of free enquiry and imagination. In this temple of learning, dreams take shape. The educational group attempts to inculcate the sense of human values and discipline in students to make them respectable human beings. It encourages learners to learn, to realize their potential and imbibe the best practices.
Right from its inception the placement cell of IEM has consistently provided for 1 to 2 jobs on average for all its students.

Campus Information
​
The IEM Group has campuses Kolkata.
The Institute of Engineering and Management is the first successful venture of the IEM Group. The ‘Gurukul’ building, the ‘Ashram’ building and the ‘Management House’ which are three parts of the Institute, are situated in the official and business hub of Sector V, Salt Lake, Kolkata. Since its inception in (1989) it has grown in leaps and bounds and established itself as the best institute in Eastern India in the field of Engineering and Management. The Institute has produced some of the best brains who have done substantial work in the form of innovative projects leading to filing patents and research papers in Indian and International journals.
The wi-fi enabled campuses house a large auditorium, a cafeteria, a parking lot and a playground, thus rendering it self-sufficient in every respect. Some of the well known business organisations, hospitals, shopping malls, eateries and theatres are located in the vicinity, thus making the campus easily accessible and well connected to the city. The group also operates its own bus services which can be availed by students, faculty and Staff. Hostel facilities are also available within and outside the campus area. Last but not the least; the campuses have their own psychiatrist/Counsellor, an in-house physician and an ambulance to tackle emergencies/casualties.

Library
​
The IEM group has excellent provision for reading and research in all its campuses. The library is well equipped with modern facilities (print and electronic) in the form of CDROMs, DVD-ROM, online databases, video, cassettes, books, journals, theses, reports etc. to cater to the academic requirements of students, faculty and research scholars. The infrastructure and the ambience of the reading room foster a healthy reading practice and encourage research work in the young minds.
Digital Library: The modern digital libraries are equipped with sufficient computers and multimedia learning aids for users. The Library is stocked with about 1,50,000 books with twenty thousand titles. It provides photocopying, printing and scanning facilities. The Library routine services have been fully automated using the library database management software (LSEase/c/Rel 5.0). It is an integrated library management software package (automated library management system)
E-Resources: The library provides user name and password based access of full text e-journals of IEEE Digital Library, Del Net Online and J-Gate Management. Students and faculty can browse the online journals from the University/College campus and from home and the hostel.
Placements
The educational group has one of the strongest Placement Cells in the country. Right from its inception both IEM have provided for 1 to 2 jobs on an average for all its students. The same story has been repeated even in the year 2016 with all students of both IEM getting 1 to 2 job offers on average. Various professionals from corporate bodies are invited to address the students to give them an idea of the requirements in the industry. Pre-placements talks are organized to orient the students towards the organization they represent, the job profiles, the interview process and their expectations from the prospective candidate. In addition to Soft Skills Development Programme (SSDP), the Higher Career Training Programme (HCTP) has also been introduced to assist students in their preparation for competitive examinations including GATE. Successful placements through Campus interviews have been the best achievement for the Group over the years. About 2000-3000 alumni are successfully working in leading MNCs all across the globe while many are pursuing their Higher studies in World’s top Universities.
Alumni
The IEM Group takes pride in its Alumni who are the leading lights of the organisation/Group. Many of the alumni are placed in distinguished positions (Director/Manager) in companies like SAP, Oracle, Facebook, Juniper, TCS and others. The Alumni Cell of the Group actively maintains contact with its alumnus and organises an Annual Meet at its campuses providing an opportunity for both the old and the new to meet on the same platform. Regular interaction in the form of lectures and presentations facilitates awareness and zest among the nexgen and motivates them to perform better.
While many of the alumni have associated themselves with the industry in India and abroad, others have enrolled for higher education in prestigious universities like University of South California, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Saarland University, Saarbrucken, Germany and many more. Scholastic excellence has also been reflected in those who have secured positions in academic institutions (such as IIT) of repute. Many have successfully established themselves as entrepreneurs and have set the ball rolling for the others by being role models or offering opportunities to them in their business ventures.

Hostel
​
The educational group provides exclusive hostel facilities for boys and girls with proper security measures and round the clock monitoring to ensure safety and strict discipline among the inmates. It attempts to create a ‘home away from home’ by providing a homelike and congenial atmosphere with all comforts and necessities for day to day existence. The canteens serve quality vegetarian and non-vegetarian food which caters to all regional Indian cuisines for variety and taste.

The IEM educational group believes that the combined work force of good teachers and good students is the stepping stone towards achieving academic excellence. Its lifeline extends to excellent Faculty members from renowned Institutes such as IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata among many others. Its pillar of strength comprises of dedicated and sound academicians, professionals as well as dignitaries from the corporate world. The educational group boasts of the best faculty members who not only strive to deliver quality education, but also follow high moral and ethical standards in their profession.
